We are thrilled to announce the registration of the appellation of origin — Kazan Patterned Leather. This achievement comes from our cooperation with the manufactory "Sahtian" headed by master craftswoman Alfiya Artemyeva.
During the International Economic Forum "Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum 2023", the Deputy Head of Rospatent Andrey Solonovich presented the certificate for the appellation of origin to the rights holder.
Kazan Patterned Leather is the first protected appellation of origin in the Republic of Tatarstan for products originating from folk crafts. This recognition provides the invaluable benefit of legal protection against counterfeiting, ensuring the authenticity and quality of traditional leather footwear and decor items produced in Kazan.
"Sahtian" is the keeper of the traditional craft of the Kazan Tatars, carrying forward the heritage of national footwear production using leather mosaic techniques.

While making leather mosaics, pieces of colored leather are bound together by hand using an original method that allows one to sew the parts and make the embroidery simultaneously.
