Anton Khomyakov, Senior Partner of the firm, took part in the seminar "Regional Brands of Russia — New Growth Drivers", organized by Rospatent with the support of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan. The event was held recently in Kazan.
The seminar focused on the registration of appellations of origin and geographical indications and was aimed at representatives of business, creative industries, and local producers.
Speakers included representatives of WIPO and senior experts of the Russian Patent Office (FIPS), who discussed international practices, examination procedures, and requirements for the registration of such IP objects.
Anton Khomyakov presented a case from the firm’s practice (photo source: FIPS social media channels) related to the registration of exclusive rights for the brand "Kazan Patterned Leather" — one of only four registered regional brands of this category in the Republic of Tatarstan and the only one related to traditional handicrafts.
The seminar took place at the conference hall of the renovated Kazan TSUM — Center of Unique Craftsmanship ("TSUM" being a Russian abbreviation for the center’s name).
